WRRC INFO – JANUARY 2025

Dear colleagues,

A friendly reminder.

As said at this year’s WRRC AGM, re-entering The World Games 2029 is one of WRRC priorities. Therefore, I ask you to please answer the questions below. They are the conclusion of what we all thought of as fruitful ideas.

Getting back into The World Games 2029 is a big project needing many of us members working together.

The two main activities where WRRC are totally dependent on your co-operation are:

1 Dual Citizenship:

As a short-term action, WRRC will ask you to try to find dancers within your national clubs with dual citizenship. The answer will help WRRC to investigate the possibility of having more couples from other countries in WRRC competitions and championships.

WRRC kindly ask you to:

  1. Ask your clubs to find dancers with dual citizenship who can consider start competing for their second citizenship country. This is not a binding request, just a quick survey of future possibilities.
  2. Gather the information from all clubs by June 30, 2025, and send it to WRRC, Vice President Marketing and Expansion, Lena Arvidsson. Email: vpexpansion@wrrc.dance

Recently WRRC got to know that there’s probably couples from China, Ecuador, Taiwan and US training and competing in Europe.

The Expansion project allows couples with no national WRRC federation to compete for two years in WRRC competitions. During this period work needs to be done finding structures in the country. After two years there must be a national federation taking responsibility for developing our sport in the country, also being a member of WRRC and WDSF if applicable.

Before getting a WRRC license, please contact VP Expansion, Lena Arvidsson: vpexpansion@wrrc.dance.

2 University project:

At the Forum there were some good talks about finding dancers from new countries using universities.

The idea is that clubs having a university in their city can try to find people from other countries who are willing to come to the city for 3-5 years for their degree and dance during their stay.

This target group is looking for friends and wants to have a nice time at the location. We can offer them the opportunity to dance Rock’n’Roll for their country at the 2029 World Games. This is both a short-term and a long-term project.

Here we try to bring the potential dancers to already existing structures. There will be clubs, places for training, Trainers which already have good working Clubs, a bit of a New Strategy. When the dancers are going back to their countries WRRC can support them to build new clubs and federations in their home country.

WRRC will start on a smaller scale to evaluate and develop the project and provide some support.

WRRC kindly asks you to:

  1. Investigate the interest in among your clubs to take on such responsibilities.
  2. Gather the information by June 31, 2025, and send it to WRRC, VP Expansion, Lena Arvidsson: vpexpansion@wrrc.dance.

WRRC will contact potential clubs for further information and co-operation.

Kind Regards
